Join us at Hope Flower Farm for an adventure of learning and creating under the direction of world renowned floral artist Gregor Lersch and Chapel Designers Founder Holly Chapple with special guest teachers Francoise Weeks Hitomi Gilliam, Susan Mcleary and Alison Ellis. We'll spend each day on the serene grounds of Hope Flower Farm studying the mechanics and design aesthetics perfected by our highly sought after teachers. Our time together will draw to a close with a Flora & Fauna Fashion Show where you will see your work hit the runway worn by some very special models.

From Holly: In 2016 we produced a powerful and exciting Flora and Fauna Fashion Show in NYC. The show was one of our most remarkable events. After purchasing Hope Flower Farm, we had a new vision for the Flora and Fauna Fashion show to be born again in the dairy barn at Hope. We imagined models walking the runway (aka feeding trough) in the dairy barn. We're excited to bring the concept to life at this workshop with the help of our instructor world-renowned designer Gregor Lersch. Designers Francoise Weeks, Hitomi Gilliam and Susan McLeary will also provide short sessions as our esteemed guest teachers.  I will be instructing on a small scale and will be offering our business courses alongside Alison Ellis. In addition, we have joined up with Team Mathias and Along Comes Hope, which are organizations that benefit youth with pediatric cancer. Our fashion show models will be courageous cancer survivors. We will fully decorate the dairy barn in preparation for the show and make wearable designs for our models throughout the week . The fashion show portion of the workshop will surely be a powerful and moving experience. Tickets will be sold to the public for the fashion show and any proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to our two charities.

We have intentionally set the dates and times of this workshop so that wedding and event designers can still provide services on the weekend prior to the workshop and the weekend after the workshop.

Attendees should know that the barns at Hope are not temperature controlled. In addition we are providing this schedule as a guideline. However we have a very comfortable and casual vibe on the farm. Many of our teachers (myself included) like to stay late into the evening discussing design or prepping for the following day. Gregor is known for that. This late nighttime is not something I can promise, but I would highly advise you to keep your schedule open in the evening in case you would like to stay. Students who need to leave at the end of the day are often torn about leaving. At the very least we will gather on the porches or in the barn to talk. The evenings are some of my most favorite times at the farm.

2 pm - Fashion Show concludes

2 pm - Official end of CD Workshop event - Students may depart according to travel schedules or work obligations. Attendees who would like to stay are welcome to stay on for visiting and celebrating.

Join us in Scotland in April for a Chapel Designers conference to remember, combining florist studio, luxury city hotel and country house designing experiences.

On the first afternoon and evening we'll gather to welcome new designers and cement old friendships.

On Monday morning we'll head to Perthshire and spend the day at the stunning country estate of Errol Park where we'll create Holly Chapple-inspired bridal bouquets in the morning before we decorate an exquisite ceremony space in the afternoon. The whole day will be captured by a professional photographer.

On Tuesday we'll work with acclaimed florists Pyrus before designing a luxury tablescape for our official conference dinner at Hotel du Vin at One Devonshire Gardens.

On the third and final day we'll gather at the studio space of Mood Flowers to have a peak behind the scenes before dedicating the morning to business conversation with input from Holly & Evan Chapple and Nick Priestly as well as a social media presentation by Chloe Milligan. After lunch we will be treated to a presentation by the talented Fiona Pickles from Firenza Flowers.

Join Holly Chapple and some of her current Chapel Designers for a unique opportunity to flower the aisle, high altar and the reredos at The Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta, Georgia - one of only 5 churches left standing in Atlanta by Sherman's army during the Civil War. Learn large-scale mechanics alongside Holly while receiving hands-on experience in a real life setting. Following the large installation, spend a day learning Hollyish floral design techniques and the business practices she developed while building Holly Heider Chapple Flowers over the last 25 years. A professional photographer will be on hand to capture portfolio-worthy images of your work.  Class limited to 8 students. Tuesday, January 23

8:00 am - Arrive at Cut Flower Wholesale 2122 Faulkner Rd, Atlanta GA for a tour. The tour is optional (students will take their own cars as transportation is not provided).

10:00 am -  Arrive at The Cathedral of St. Philip (address above). Begin processing flowers and preparing mechanics for the grand installation at the Cathedral.

12:30 pm Lunch (provided)

1:30 pm - Resume working on the Cathedral installation. Once the church is prepped and ready, students will receive an hour of business coaching.

5:00 pm - Workshop officially concludes for the day

 

Wednesday, January 24

Friday, January 26th

Holly will present two one-hour programs for the Cathedral Antiques Show.  All registered students of the CD event will be given tickets to the event. Holly will speak at 10:30 am & 1:30 pm. This day is optional for those who would like to stay.


 

Message to students:

Students who register should be prepared to work and assist on a large scale installation. If a true hands-on workshop is not for you, we suggest you look at one of our other class options. Because we believe in transparency and to ensure there is no confusion about this process, Holly Heider Chapple Flowers is not being paid to flower the cathedral. She was contacted to do this as an artistic opportunity and she is being allowed to teach the process. This is a hands-on real-life working opportunity to be by her side as she designs the historic cathedral.  On January 26th, Holly has a speaking engagement at the Cathedral Antiques Show. Workshop participants will be gifted tickets, but it is NOT an official part of the Chapel Designer workshop. You might consider leaving your evenings open as it's common for participants to socialize in the evenings and we believe it's an important part of getting to know your Chapel Designer family.

About Robbie Honey:

By the age of seventeen, Robbie was studying horticulture and went on to work in the floriculture trade in Holland and Kenya. Honing his creative sensibilities further, he studied interior design and photography at art school in Cape Town. Moving to London he trained with floral designer Ming Veevers Carter and gained a thorough grounding in event floristry.

Setting out on his own at twenty-five, Hermès was his first fashion client, followed by Dior and Armani, establishing Robbie Honey as an in-demand florist within the fashion industry. With this rare combination of expertise: in botany, floristry and the visual arts, he started lecturing around the world on floristry and writing for the Wall Street Journal.

One-Day Intensive Wedding Workshop

Location: Holly Chapple's Personal Studio & Gardens, Lucketts, Virginia (Loudoun County)

Join Holly for a full day of designing and business advice in her Virginia studio. You'll spend the morning discussing sales, pricing, contracts and social media. Holly will answer your specific business questions and provide advice based on her 20+ years in the floral industry. After a relaxing lunch spent with new friends, you'll head out to the garden with Holly to harvest flowers from her personal garden. You'll spend the afternoon in Holly's studio designing wedding bouquets and floral halos as Holly guides you through her techniques of design and mechanics. In addition to the flowers foraged from Holly's garden, you'll have the opportunity to design with blooms from one of Holly's favorite flower farmers, Don Dramstad of Don's Dahlias. Space in the workshop is limited to ensure ample one-on-one time with Holly.  (Note: This workshop is an official Chapel Designer event. Portfolio Building Workshop with Holly Heider Chapple Flowers and Jodi & Kurt Miller Photography

June 30, 2014-July 1, 2014

9:00am – 5:00pm (optional Chapel Designer session 7:00am – 9:00am)

Holly Chapple will open her private studio and gardens this summer for a special portfolio building workshop. During this two day workshop, you will have the opportunity to create designs for your personal studio portfolio using specialty blooms sourced by Holly Chapple from local growers and her own personal garden. This workshop is not designed to be an intensive instructional time, but a time for you to be creative with the intention of building your personal portfolio. Holly will be in the studio to help guide you as you create, answer your questions, and discuss styling and portfolios. You will have the opportunity to create as many designs as you’d like during the design time using her large personal inventory of props and containers. Holly will provide you with the sourcing information you need to secure the inventory you use for your photo shoot making your designs viable options for future clients at your personal studio.

Your floral designs will be photographed by Jodi & Kurt Miller, who were recently named one of Martha Stewart Weddings’ 69 Top Wedding Photographers.  In addition, Jodi and Kurt will take professional head shots of each attendee. After the workshop, you will receive a USB flash drive containing 20-30 images of your floral designs and 5-10 images of your headshots in hi-res and web resolution with permission for your business/web use.

Holly will also offer an optional session each morning from 7:00am – 9:00am for designers who are interested in becoming Chapel Designers. During this morning session, Holly will share her 20+ years of experience and answer your questions on the topic of running a floral design business. You will also hear about her vision and subsequent creation of the Chapel Designer organization, as well as information on the benefits extended to Chapel Designers.

The workshop will be limited to 12 attendees for optimum design time and personal interaction with Holly.

Chapel Designers Australia 2014

Design with Holly Chapple & Françoise Weeks in Sydney, Australia! This event is a 3 day wedding workshop and it is an official Chapel Designers event. The event will be on

Friday, Saturday & Sunday June 6, 7 & 8 2014, 9am to 4pm each day. Lunch will be included and
scheduled from 12 to 1pm.

Our host is Chapel Designer Michelle Van Eimeren of Affair with George Flowers

Located in Robertson, New South Wales

Class is limited to 15 students! Each student will become a member of the Chapel Designers group and you will have access to the closed educational forum of the Chapel Designers. In this workshop we will discuss running and operating a wedding design studio as well as hands on designing. Students will create and keep their designs.

Francoise and Holly will teach a collection of bridal bouquets, hairpieces, and centerpieces. Of course Francoise is known for her incredible woodland designs and Holly is known for her lush bridal bouquets. We will be certain to teach both styles of design.

Please bring your own tools, i.e. clippers, scissors, wire cutters and knives

 

Francoise will design with you her famous Woodland arrangements

For Françoise, the Woodlands sprouted from a childhood memory that took a life of its own. Using foliage, bark, berries, seedpods, twigs, mushrooms, herbs and some flowers, we’ll explore how to make woodland bouquets as well as centerpieces. You will hone your artistic talents and will be encouraged to listen to your own intuition and further your own vision.

Botanical couture

We’ll explore different ideas for botanical headpieces and will discuss sourcing materials and the mechanics involved to create a variety of these unique designs.

Holly has been designing weddings and events for 22 years. She will teach the construction and mechanics behind her lush and internationally recognized bridal bouquets. We will work on hairpieces, centerpieces, and we will discuss the mechanics behind large elevated designs and flower garlands.

Cost for the workshop is $2, 385.00.
